The Manesse manuscript, officially known by the more unwieldy name Große Heidelberger Liederhandschrift, contains poems of the late 13th century and is dated to the first quarter of the 14th. It was probably compiled in Zürich, Switzerland and is now the pride of the University of Heidelberg library. All of the many, many images depict poets (minnesingers); the images here have been selected for the presence of ladies and non-noble persons.
