s1913_4 *********************** Skirt for dress "with Bulgarian sash", 1913 *********************** No size given. 4 m grass green damask, 1,5 m black merveilleux (for the sash), 1 m wide ribbon (for the front edges and sleeve hems, I think - that's white tulle) 44 main part (only in overview) 45 yoke 46 & 46a belt or sash Stick together parts 46 and 46a along "cut line" before cutting the fabric. G must meet G, H must meet H. Part 46a appears folded in the pattern, i.e. the inner drawing must be flipped over along the line marked "fold line". See pattern overview. In part 44, the line at 65 is marked "centre front", the one at 127 "centre back". The rectangle is 150 x 96 cm. Part 45, the yoke, has different markings for the front edge of the left side (shorter) and the right side. Sew together right and left side of yoke. Gather main part of skirt and set skirt onto yoke along marking. (Apparently, there should be some pleats between CF and edge of the main part. Hard to see.) Turn a wide hem at the lower and vertical edges, which remain open save for some loose stitching. Put buckram under the upper edge of the yoke and set the skirt onto the lining taille (*); the overlapping right side goes onto the top fabric of the taille. Make a hook & eye closure. Sew on the upper edge of the sash along the marking "belt", pleat front edges where marked (drape onto the person to get the best results) and lightly attach to the yoke in the pleats. The lower edge is left hanging loose. The vertical part of the sash is not mentioned in the pattern. It has a bead fringe at the end and is simply hung over the sash. Three silk flowers in yellow, violet and green decorate it at the waist. The collar tips are embroidered with long beads. *) you can use a generic lining taille as on page http://www.marquise.de/schnitte/20jh/s1900.shtml, the first three listed, or use the 1913 lining taille which will appear soon. ------ Made for Manuela as part of the Pattern Exchange ------ brought to you by La Couturière Parisienne (webmistress @marquise.de) http://www.marquise.de Copyright 2001 by A.
